The Oyo State governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, on thursday, declared that his administration will continue to facilitate accelerated development as this has yielded positive results by attracting investors to the state.
Makinde who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi stated this during the launching of Africar in Ibadan. He emphasized that, the state has witnessed and still witnessing a tremendous growth in the transport sector since the inception of his administration.
Amongst others, he stated, that 94.202km roads have been completed. He also highlighted the purchased of 109 buses for mass transit-tagged Omituntun Bus Mass Transit, construction of four bus terminals, junction improvement and installation of traffic light at various intersections as some of his achievements in the transport sector. He also stated that, construction of 284.Km roads are still ongoing in the state.
Africar is an online ride-hailing platform that recently activated their business in the State as a pilot state, and exploring the investment friendly environment provided by the state Government.
Mr Sahil Vaswani, the CEO, Africar appreciated the Executive Governor of Oyo State, stating that, through his support, they have really achieved a lot within short period of time and the business is really growing exponentially. He also stated that, in less than six weeks, the company has recorded over 100,000 downloads.
He equally applauded Governor Seyi Makinde for creating enabling environment which has paved way for healthy business transactions noting that, ever since he has been working in Nigeria, his experience in Ibadan the capital of Oyo state is the best.
The event which was held at Golden Tulip in Ibadan has the Hon. Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo, Hon. Commisioner of Works and Transport, Prof. Dahud Sangodoyin and other dignitaries from all works of life in attendance.
