Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has approved the appointment of Mrs. Adenike Ayobami Fasina as the new Head of the State Civil and Public Service, following the retirement of Mrs. Olubunmi Olufunke Oni, mni.
This was confirmed by an official letter from the Office of the Head of Service on Friday.
A valedictory and retirement programme was also organised by the Forum of Administrative Officers of Oyo State for the outgoing Head of Service at an event held on Friday at the House of Chiefs, State Parliamentary Complex, Agodi Secretariat, Ibadan.
The development was contained in a press release issued from the Office of the Head of Service, Secretariat, Ibadan, dated May 29, 2026, with reference number HS.8/S.1/T2/113.
The statement read:
“His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde FNSE, DSc, GSSRS, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, has approved the appointment of Mrs. Adenike Ayobami Fasina as the new Head of Oyo State Civil and Public Service, who will be taking over the mantle of leadership from Mrs. Olubunmi Olufunke Oni, mni, who retires from the Oyo State Civil Service on attainment of mandatory age in line with extant Civil and Public Service rules and regulations.
“Mrs. Fasina who hails from Eruwa, Ibarapa East Local Government joined the Oyo State Civil Service as Statistician II in the year 2000 and rose through the ranks, serving as Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance prior to this appointment. She was a two-time awardee of the Oyo State Merit and Productivity Award Programme.
“Mrs. Adenike Ayobami Fasina is a member of National Institute, mni, being an alumnus of National Institute of Strategic Studies, Kuru. She belongs to several professional bodies.
“In a related development, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde FNSE, DSc, GSSRS, the Executive Governor approved the appointment of 20 Executive Secretaries and General Managers in the Oyo State Civil/Public Service.”
Before her appointment, Fasina served as the Permanent Secretary in the Oyo State Ministry of Finance, where she was widely regarded as a seasoned administrator with vast experience in public finance management and civil service operations.
Fasina, an indigene of Eruwa in Ibarapa East Local Government Area of the state, joined the Oyo State Civil Service in 2000 and steadily rose through the ranks to attain the position of Permanent Secretary.
She is also a member of the prestigious National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (mni) and a two-time recipient of the Oyo State Merit and Productivity Award in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the service.
Her appointment is expected to usher in a new phase in the administration of the state’s civil and public service, coming at a time the Makinde administration continues to implement reforms aimed at improving efficiency and productivity within government institutions.
Meanwhile, Governor Makinde has also reportedly approved the appointment of 20 new Executive Secretaries and General Managers across different agencies and parastatals in the state public service.
The appointments, according to sources, are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen administrative coordination and enhance service delivery across ministries, departments and agencies in the state.
