The association, in a statement signed by its National President, Abdulwaheed Olowonjaye, and Secretary, Prof S.O Nofiu, it described the late former President as a man who exemplified discipline, self-reliance, anti-corruption and national unity.

The statement read:

“With profound sorrow and submission to Allah’s divine will, the leadership and members of Muslims Awareness Association of Nigeria (MAAN) extend heartfelt condolences to the immediate and extended family of the late President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, who passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025. We also condole with the Katsina State Chapter of MAAN, the government and people of Nigeria and the global Muslim Ummah.

”As a national Islamic Advocacy Group with a strategic presence in all 774 Local Government Areas of Nigeria and diverse professional membership, MAAN recognizes President Buhari’s tremendous impact and lasting legacies in Nigeria’s military, public administration and democratic leadership.

”President Buhari served Nigeria honourably as a soldier and statesman, exemplifying discipline, self-reliance, anti-corruption and national unity. His leadership during challenging times left a legacy of infrastructural development, war against indiscipline, agricultural revival and national security enhancement.

”We consider it a divine blessing that such a figure emerged from Katsina, serving Nigeria with sincerity and fear of Allah. We especially commiserate with the MAAN family in Katsina State.

”As we mourn, we reflect on life’s ephemeral nature, leadership’s weight and accountability before Allah. We pray that Allah grants Alhaji Muhammadu Buhari Al-Jannatul-Firdaus, forgives his shortcomings and accepts his efforts for Nigeria’s good and the Muslim Ummah.

“We beseech Allah to comfort his family, Nigeria people and the entire Nigerians who benefited from his principled leadership. May his legacy inspire service, truth and righteousness.
