“Leave One Of Your Profs Behind For Us” — Kano Emir Jokes As Adeolu Akande, NCC Board Visits Him

It was laughter galore as the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero jokingly requested that one of the professors on the board of the Nigerian Communications Commission(NCC), be left behind in his court when the board paid a courtesy visit on him in Kano today.

The emir had noted that from the introduction of members of the board by the Executive Vice Chairman, Professor Umar Danbatta,there were many professors on the board of the commission.

“This shows the quality of the board and we thank President Muhammadu Buhari for appointing quality men to his government. May i request that you leave one of the professors behind in my court at the end of your retreat in Kano”, the Emir joked to the laughter of the audience in the palace.

“I am not going to choose one myself. I want you to choose any of them that you will leave behind”, he continued.

The emir had earlier thanked President Buhari for the appointment of Dr Ibrahim Pantami as the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy and the re-appointent of Professor Umar Danbatta as the Executive Vice Chairman for a second term.

He said the abundance of professors on the board of the NCC speaks to the importance President Buhari attaches to the board as well as the high espectations from the board.

“I want you to live up to the expecration of Mr President by giving honest advise to the government”, the Emir concluded.

The Board of the NCC had paid a courtesy visit on the Emir of Kano as part of its retreat programme in the ancient city.

The week- long programme is to review the work of the commission and strategise for further development of the communicarions sector.
