Late Gboye Family Seeks Makinde’s Support On Employment, Scholarships For Children

Family and loyalists of the late Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, chieftain in Oyo State, Adegboyega Makanjuola have called on Governor  Seyi Makinde to assist four children of the deceased with employment and scholarship opportunities.

The family made the plea via a letter presented to the government through the party’s state secretary, Hon. Wasiu Adeleke, at the 8th Day Fidau prayer in honour of the late political stalwart who died on Sunday, 27th of July, 2020 at his Bodija residence in Ibadan on Monday.

Popularly called Gboye Ibo, the deceased, 63, once served as special assistant to Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala, when he was deputy governor of Oyo State. He was also as a former secretary of Ibadan North local government.)3 was born on the 8th of January, 1957 into the family of Mr. and Mrs. Makanjuola of Ile Oloya, Abebi Compound, Ibadan, Oyo State capital.

Wives of the deceased, Mrs. Deborah Makanjuola and Mrs. Aminat Makanjuola who spoke during the prayer session, described their husband as a nice and trustworthy person, who was not bias.

Explaining that they were shattered by his death, they said they would continue to pray God to grant him eternal rest.

Former member of the Oyo state 8th House of Assembly, Hon. Segun Olaleye, in his remark commended the effort of political leaders who gave their support, further appealing to Makinde to assist the deceased family by giving employment and scholarship opportunities to children of the deceased.

Special adviser to former governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Raji Fashola on security matters, Hon. Bamidele Sulaimon, while speaking about the deceased described him as an honest and fearless man who would always stay with the truth and made sure everybody was in good course.

Hon. Demola Omotosho, who worked with the deceased as chairman of Ibadan North LGA, said  he lost a friend who is his political leader at a very unfortunate period. He added that he was a predictable man who will never shift from what he believes in unlike other politician.

Omotosho also mentioned that late Adegboyega cut across all political groups and related with others, praying God grant everybody the grace to bear the loss.

Chairman of Ibadan North chapter of the PDP , Seun Adelore, added that the deceased was not a typical politician as he was too straight and direct, and sometimes controversial on reasonable way.

The lawmaker representing Ibadan North state constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Adebayo Babajide, described Makanjuola as an honest man whom he always looked forward to on advises before he takes many political actions.

A younger sister to the deceased, Toyin Makanjuola described him as a man that was honest and incomparable. She said she once told him not to be a politician due to his honesty.

Speaking On behalf of the family, a son of the deceased, Tosin Makanjuola claimed his death came at an unfortunate time and prayed his soul rest in peace.

PDP secretary, Adeleke on behalf of the Oyo state People’s democratic party sympathized with the family of the deceased adding that he would extend the letter to the government.
