A two year-old girl identified as Sukura, was abducted and murdered by suspected ritualists on the eve of Sallah celebrations at Olodo area of Ibadan , Egbeda Local Government Area of Oyo state on the eve of Sallah celebrations.
According to Najia Examiner, Sukura was declared missing on the 30th of July around 8pm.
According to some members of the community, before going missing, Sukura was last seen in front of her parents house playing with other kids,
She was reportedly kidnapped in front of her step parents shop at Ahoyaya Avenue, Olodo area of the city on the eve of Sallah .
The incident which threw the entire community into confusion, saw youths and other members of the community searching for the missing girl in nearby bushes
However, less than 24 hours after the girl was missing, a lifeless body of the little girl was found in the bush near a river bank on the Sallah day , a situation which caused an uproar in the community.
Scores of sympathisers gathered in front of the home of the step parents, weeping and raining curses on those behind the killing of the promising girl.
One of the sympathizers who spoke with this reporter , Alhaji Hamsat Adekola described the killing as wicked and an act against humanity.
According to him, all those behind the dastardly act would see the wrath of God.
Narrating how the victim was kidnapped and murdered by suspected ritualists , Adekola said ” We were all in festive mood on 30th July , a day before Ileya , when the sudden disappearance of Sukura turned our joy into sadness. According some of the neighbors, she was outside playing that evening before the news of her disappearance filtered.
” The cries of the parents awoken everyone of us , and we all started searching for her. Within few hours , the whole community were alerted to the sudden disappearance of the girl.
” We alerted the Iyana- Offa Police Station , and search every nooks and crannies to no avail. The next day, that was on the 3st of July , Sallah day, some members of the community alerted us that they have found the missing girl, but sadly , it was a dismembered body.
” It was a black Sallah day for members of the community as the people broke down in tears . “
It was learnt that officers of the Iyana- Offa police station have swung into action , investigating the killing with a view to unraveling the culprits behind the dastardly act.
