Maybe for not initially supporting the party’s choice for the speakership position, Tajudeen Abbas, two members of the House of Representatives from Oyo State and of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Musiliudeen Akinremi (Ibadan North) and Tolulope Akande Sadipe (Oluyole) did not make the committee chairmanship list.
Also left out is Wasiu Olafisoye Akinmoyede (APC, Akinyele/Lagelu).
Apart from not making the chairmanship list, OYOINSIGHT.COM observed that the names of the trio, all of APC, were missing in vice-chairmanship list as well.
While Akinremi and Sadipe are second term members, Akinmoyede is a first term member, though he had previously represented Lagelu state constituency between 2015 and 2019 in the Oyo State House of Assembly.
OYOINSIGHT.COM recalls that during their first tenure, between 2019 and 2023, Akinremi and Sadipe were chairmen of committees on science research institute and diaspora respectively.
Earlier this week, a video where First Lady Remi Tinubu was expressing displeasure over Sadipe’s action surfaced. Mrs Tinubu was overheard saying she advised Sadipe against going the other way during the speakership contest.
In the list of committee chairmanship and vice-chairmanship released Thursday evening, three-term members, Akeem Adeyemi (APC, AFIJIO/Atiba/Oyo East/Oyo West) and Tajudeen Abisodun (APC, ATISBO/Saki East/Saki West) are to chair agricultural research institutions and culture & tourism respectively. Akin Alabi (APC, Egbeda/Ona-Ara) is chairman on works. Peoples Democratic Party, PDP’s Abass Agboworin (Ibadan North East/South East) is to chair drugs and narcotics committee; Adedeji Dhikirulahi Olajide (PDP, Ibadan North West/South West) is information communication technology, ICT, and cyber security; Remi Oseni (APC, Ido) is Federal Road Maintenance Agency, FERMA and Olamiju Alao-Akala (APC, Ogbomoso North/Ogbomoso South/Oriire) is chairman of Youths in Parliament).
For vice-chairmanship, Oyesina Najimdeem Oyedeji (PDP, Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Iwajowa/Kajola) is in ecological fund; Adébáyọ̀ Adepoju (PDP, Ibarapa Central/Ibarapa North) is federal character; Ojo Makanjuola (PDP, Ogo-Oluwa/Surulere) is solid minerals and Olaide Muhammed (APC, Irepo/Olorunsogo/Oorelope) is in pension.
