To assist young talents, especially those who are in the entertainment sector, a popular Ibadan night club, Ebevande, has splashed N1,000,000 on the winner of its first talent hunt.
20-year old Bagudu Emmanuella of the University of Benin defeated over 500 others to win the prize.
Speaking through his business associate, Mr Ope Alabi, during the presentation of cheque to the winner, the chief executive officer of the club, Mr Bimbo Ojugbile, said the Ebevande Talent Hunt is aimed at empowering the youths.
According to him, “we got entries from over 500 people on our social media handles. Last month, the top 20 were shortlisted. And fortunately, the winner is an upcoming rapper.”
Saying that the event would be staged thrice in a year, he explained that the process for the next edition will start in May, 2019.
Commending the club for initiating the competition, Oyo State commissioner for youths and sports, Barr Abayomi Oke, noted that “It is not just about the money but what you have done to promote their talents. This, I believe, will take them to stardom.”
This is just as he advised the organizers to use their connection to get them collaboration with top artistes.
Beaming with smile, Layzee Ella, as the 400 level medical laboratory science is called, disclosed that she got information about the competition online media, adding that “I am very excited. I was shocked I won it. It is so nice to see a club like Ebevande coming up with the things like this.”
