Omololu Olunloyo, former governor of Oyo State, today said that Teslim Folarin, did not kill Lateef Salako, slain chairman of the Oyo State chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, as been speculated.

Eleweomo, as Salako was fondly called, was killed during a Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, local government congress in the build up to the 2011 election.

OYOINSIGHT.COM understands that those who are opposed to the three-term senator have always been using that against him.

It would recalled that Folarin was roped for political reasons but was given a clean bill of health by the court when it was discovered he didn’t have a hand in the death.

Olunloyo, during the programme anchored by Olayinka Agboola and Seun Akinola on Splash 105.5 FM, said attempts were made on the life of Folarin but he saved him.

“It was me, Okwesilieze Nwodo, then chairman of the PDP; British High Commission and American Embassy that saved Folarin when they were planning to kill him.

”They accused Folarin of killing Eleweomo. Eleweomo was killed in Olunloyo. I can swear with anything that it wasn’t Folarin who killed him. Teslim Folarin was coming to that place when he heard and turned back. Eleweomo was shot, he didn’t die. He was matcheted, he didn’t die. They used plank on him. That was how he died,” he said.
