Teslim Folarin, governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, has assured the people of the 10 Okeogun local government areas of Oyo that he would develop the zone with agriculture.
Reacting to a statement by ‘Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo State, on Political Circuit, a Fresh 105.9 FM programme, that he would move recalcitrant destitute from Ibadan, his hometown to Kisi, where his deputy hails from, Folarin said he was not surprised about the governor’s remark.
According to the three-term senator who spoke during the inauguration of the 3,333 presidential and governorship campaign council for the state, “We don’t have anything Makinde. We are proud of his private sector experience. But in public sector, he lacks the experience. If you listened to his interview this outgone week, you will shake your head.
“I was shocked when he said he gives chairman N10m monthly but decided not to give them again when they couldn’t account for it. He appointed those council chairmen but he has OYACA. He should have petitioned the agency to try those LG bosses. He has killed the local government system in the state. This is obvious. He, himself, has stated the obvious. LG is the most important tier of government.
“By the special grace of God, when we form our administration, ours would be ‘minus zero’ tolerance for insecurity. It was zero tolerance under our late leader, Sen. Abiola Ajimobi, as governor. Security underpins everything. Who would invest in a state without security. He hasn’t provided the kind of leadership we expected.”
Folarin, who is the Asaaju Olubadan of Ibadanland, also spoke about reconciliatory efforts within the party.

“Before we commenced campaign, we have toured 30 out of the 33 LGAs. It remains only Ibadan North West, Ibadan North East and Ibadan South East and we will do that before next week.
“Yesterday in Akure, we saw Governor Makinde’s deputy, to our delight, he sang the praises of our presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. If that is their position, they should send their chairman to liaise with ours so that we won’t disturb INEC again. Since they want to work for Asiwaju, they should say now so that the commission can declare Asiwaju as winner.

“In the Name of Almighty Allah, The Most Beneficent and The Most Merciful. I give All Glory and Adoration to God for His Divine Protection and Grace thus far. May we not fall out of His Grace, Mercy and Protection as we march forward to victories in 2023.

“I want to congratulate the Director General, Isiaka Kolawole; DDG, Asiwaju Yemi Aderibigbe; the ADGs, the Directorates, and other great members of the just inaugurated 2023 Oyo APC Presidential and Governorship Campaign Council. I wish to reiterate that all our party members and support groups are automatic members of the council. Therefore, I plead for cooperation and unity of purpose with a view to achieving electoral victories in 2023 general elections.

“I am happy that the campaign council is composed of people with proven characters, competence and capacity required to take us to victory land. I assure the campaign council of our cooperation. You lead and we (the candidates) follow!

“I want to restate that I am not seeking the mandate of Oyo State citizens and residents to rule but to serve the State. Our mission is to move Oyo State Forward for Growth and Development, and to restore her dignity and pace-setting status.

“Unlike the incumbent administration in the state, APC government under my administration will not give flimsy excuses to justify failures in education, health, agriculture, security, environment and other sectors of Oyo State economy. I want to declare that there is no “FAILURE” in our dictionary.

“May I use this opportunity to allay the fears of the people of Oke-Ogun that our administration will not insult your sensibilities by turning the agrarian zone of Oyo State to a destitute and beggars’ Centre as captured in the manifesto of the present government in the State, instead we shall bring growth and development to the zone. Agriculture is the panacea for sustainable growth and development, therefore we shall leverage on our agricultural potentials to grow Oyo State economy, address food insecurity, and create massive employment opportunities for millions of unemployed youths of Oyo State. Therefore, Oke-Ogun is a goldmine, not Centre For Destitutes and Beggars.

“I sincerely assure citizens and residents of Oyo State that Oyo APC will engage in issue-based campaign as we do not believe in violence and propaganda to win elections. It’s TKF O’CLOCK to forward Oyo State from the nadir to the apex of good governance.

“Once again, I congratulate all of us for a successful take off of the campaigns for 2023 elections. May God Grant us victories,” he added.
