Senator Teslim Folarin is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that Hon. Olusegun Odebunmi becomes the speaker of the House of Representatives when the house is constituted in June, 2019, OYO INSIGHT has learnt.
Bunvic, as Odebunmi is known, has just been re-elected for a third term in office to represent Ogo-Oluwa federal constituency, which falls under Oyo Central senatorial district where Folarin has been re-elected for a third term in office.
He is the most senior member from Oyo State.
Only last Thursday, Folarin, after the collection of certificates of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Abuja, met some of the 14 Reps members from the state on the need to support Bunvic. Folarin was said to have told the lawmakers, among other things, that Governor Abiola Ajimobi, has interest in Bunvic.
Folarin and Bunvic, OYO INSIGHT recalled, were members of the Peoples Democratic Party, before they both joined the All Progressives Congress, APC, in 2017.
Though 5th term member, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila (Surulere 2) of Lagos and others have interest in the plum job, it is yet to be known who the party leadership will favour for the job.
It was further learnt that Folarin, who is a former senate leader, has started using wide network in Abuja to talk to his friends on the need to rally round Bunvic. Bunvic is also working round the work to ensure he gets the speakership position.
