Barring any last minutes’ change of minds, two former factional chairman of the Oyo State council of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi Auxilliary and Alhaji Abideen Olajide Ejiogbe, have agreed to work together.
At a meeting moderated by the executive assistant to Governor Seyi Makinde on security, DSP, Sunday Odukoya, both agreed to be chairman and deputy respectively.
OYO INSIGHT recalls that the union has been enmeshed in leadership crisis since Makinde was inaugurated.
Before Makinde’s emergence, Ejiogbe was acting chairman owing to the death of its former chairman, Alhaji Taofeek Oyerinde Fele.
This newspaper learnt that after both agreed to work together and share positions, they were asked to inform the outgoing national president of the union, Alhaji Najeem Yasin on the development.
Yasin, it would be recalled, has been a regular visitor to the state, holding meetings with stakeholders on how to ensure lasting peace within the state council of the union.
Confirming the development, a close associate of the governor said they will be announced anytime from now, adding that the governor is aware of the peace move.
