Eruwa Man, Ayansina, is New OAU Bursar

The Governing Council of Obafemi Awolowo University has appointed Mrs. Margaret Idowu Omosule as the 12th Registrar and Secretary to the Governing Council of the University and Mr. Samson Olayide Ayansina as the new Bursar for the University.

Until his appointment, Mr. Ayansina worked in the Finance Department of the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, Oyo State, as a Deputy Bursar/Financial Controller.

Born on the 15th day of February, 1962, in the ancient city of Eruwa in Oyo State, Samson Ayansina attended Methodist Primary School, Ago–Ajala, Temidire, Eruwa, between 1969 and 1974 before proceeding to Baptist Modern/ Commercial School, Eruwa from 1974 to 1978.  He obtained his West Africa School Certificate in 1984 and thereafter, gained admission into The Polytechnic, Ibadan (1984 – 1986) where he obtained a National Diploma and emerged Overall Best Student in Business Administration.  While in the Polytechnic, Mr. Ayansina obtained an Advanced Level (‘A’ Level) General Certificate of Education.

 

Not satisfied with this educational attainment, the young Ayansina, at various times, attended the University of Ibadan, from 1999 to 2000, and from 2001 to 2003. And in 2005, he gained admission into the Lead City University, Ibadan where be bagged a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) degree, First Class Honours, in Accounting and emerged Overall Best Student in Auditing in 2007.

A Fellow of Chartered Accountant  Mr. Ayansina’s working experience cuts across all areas of accounting. He was a secretarial staff between 1986 and 1990 and upon passing the examinations of Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria, he was redeployed to Bursary Department as an Accounts Officer (1990 – 1993).  From 1991 to 1993, he worked in the Cash Office and Finance Office, Faculty of Agriculture, Forestry and Veterinary Medicine.

 

Between 1993 and 1996, he served as a Senior Accountant, was overseeing the reconciliation of the University Bank Accounts with some Accounts of the Central Bank of Nigeria and Wema Bank, including Advances section. From 1996 to 2004, he became a Principal Accountant and Chief Accountant respectively, and was in the Finance Office, Institute and Faculty of Education where he was in charge of different accounts, representing the Bursar and supervising all financial transactions.

 

On the 1st day of April, 2008, Mr. Ayansina was promoted to the rank of a Deputy Bursar/Financial Controller in the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, where he generally supervised and coordinated the financial and administrative activities of the Department.

 

The new Bursar belongs to several National and International Organisations and has rendered unquantifiable services to humanity through these organisations.

He was a member, Investigation Panel set-up to investigate allegations leveled against the Vice-Chancellor, Registrar and Bursar, Osun State University, Osogbo, 2015; Chairman, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, Ibadan and District Society, 2016 to date.  Vice-Chairman, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, Ibadan and District Society, 2014 – 2016; Member, Finance and General Purpose Committee, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, 2015.

His extra-curricular activities include:  Gardening, Reading, Singing, Table Tennis.  Mr. Ayansina is happily married and blessed with four children

 

Prior to Omosule’s appointment, she was the Deputy Registrar and Acting Director, Vice-Chancellor’s Office.  Margaret Idowu Omosule (Nee Ejimorhugbe), a native of Ughelli South Local Government, Delta Central Senatorial District,  Delta State , was born on April 8, 1961 in Arijan,  Ogun State.

 

The new Registrar  holds a  Bachelor of  Art  (B.A)(ed.) degree in  History (1984) and Masters degree (M. A) in Guidance and Counselling (1990) both from  Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.  She is currently on her Ph.D Programme in the Department of Educational Foundations and Counselling, Faculty of Education, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

 

Omosule began to garner work experience as an Education Officer at the Ministry of Education, Akure during her NYSC Scheme between 1984 and 1985.  She was also a Guidance and Councellor, Moremi High School, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife from 1991 to 1995.

Before she joined the services of  Obafemi Awolowo University as an Administrative Officer 1 on January 23rd, 1995 and rose through the ranks to the post of  Deputy Registrar in 2008, which was  her designation  prior to her  appointment as the Registrar.

 

Since she joined the Staff of the University, Mrs. Omosule had served in different capacities and in various arms of the University, namely, the Directorate of Student’s Affairs as Administrative Officer/Assistant Registrar (January 23, 1995 – September 30, 2007); Academic Staff Establishment as Principal Assistant Registrar (October 1, 2007 – June 30, 2008); Administrative and Technical Staff Establishment as Principal Assistant Registrar (July 1, 2008 – December 4, 2011); Senate Division as Deputy Registrar (December 5, 2011 – July 31, 2016); Directorate of Academic Affairs as Acting Director (August 1, 2016 – April 24, 2017) and Vice-Chancellor’s Office as Acting Director (April 25, 2017 to Date).

 

In these areas, Mrs. Omosule has acquired varied experience in the University Administration processes and procedures at junior, intermediate and higher levels, having worked in different capacities and in various sections of the University in different capacities.

She has rendered services to the following National and International Bodies: Resource Person at National Youth Service Commission (NYSC), Pre-Mobilization Workshop held in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State in 2004 and the one held in Jos, Plateau State in 2006.  Resource Person (Supervisor, Nasarawa State) for the USAID Funded COMPASS Project: Baseline Household Facility and School Surveys, 2005.  She was a member of Technical Committee on Learning Plus (An initiative of UNICEF’s Basic Education and Gender Equity (BEGE) programme).  Resource Person (Team Leader, Benue State) for the UNICEF/Federal Ministry of Education Learning Plus Survey, 2008. Resource Person in Life Vanguards’ Training Programmes in Reproductive Health and Entrepreneurial Skills Development for Students of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. Secretary, Higher Education Resources – West Africa (HERS WA).

 

She is a University Administrator par excellence and belongs to many professional organisations, namely, Association of Nigeria University Professional Administrators (ANUPA), Institute of Corporate Administration, Nigerian Institute of Management and Critical Thinking Society.
Mrs. Omosule’s extra-curricular activities include travelling, reading autobiographies of prominent individuals and watching movies.  She is married to Dr. Omonone Omosule, and the marriage is blessed with three children.
