Oyo state appears to have become a bedlam of lies as the man at the helms in the state and his coterie of cohorts have embraced lying as a pastime. A reckless lie was recently ascribed to Engr Najeemdeen Omidinrin, Chairman, RUWASSA in Oyo state to the effect that no governor had procured borehole drilling machines for the state since 1995. The chairman was quoted to have said this while giving a hint of the approval for the purchase of borehole drilling machines by Governor Seyi Makinde.
In a swift reaction, however, a former governor of Oyo state and chieftain of APC, Otunba Christopher Alao-Akala, punctured Engr Omirinde’s glaring lies as he stated that his government purchased borehole drilling machines, totalling thirty-three 33 for all the local government councils in the state. To give concrete evidence to his claim, Otunba Akala posted pictures in which he was seen commissioning the drilling machines. What’s also not funny is that the chairman of Governor’s Advisory Council, constituted by Governor Seyi Makinde, Senator Hosea Agboola, was in the picture when former Governor Akala was commissioning the machines.
It’s important to state here, for the sake of reference, that late Senator Abiola Ajimobi also procured tractors and caterpillars for the state. It’s however baffling that the current government foment lies and falsehoods with impunity. The recent lie attributed to RUWASSA chairman is an indication that the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde is not relenting in its efforts to give all former governors, including Senator Abiola Ajimobi, bad names while Seyi Makinde projects himself as the only ‘good’ governor.
It’s quite appalling that the borehole drilling machines said to have been approved by Governor Seyi Makinde have not been purchased. Yet, there is a spurious claim that none of the former governors bought borehole drilling machines for the state. During the inferno that gutted Akesan Market in Oyo, Governor Seyi Makinde approved the purchase of firefighting trucks and actually went with his team to inspect some trucks abroad. But as we speak, no single firefighting trucks has been procured for the state.
Has Oyo state’s seat of power not become a nest of liars?
