Immediate past minister of health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, was allegedly among those who have tested positive to coronavirus in Oyo State.

Sources at the University College Hospital, UCH, who didn’t want names published told OYOINSIGHT.COM that the Ilesa-born gynecologist was allegedly in isolation for close to three weeks.

“He has been discharged either on Tuesday or Wednesday,” another source alleged.

“He was ill. He had all the symptoms of COVID-19 and he was tested. It was confirmed,” alleged a source who preferred anonymity.

Another source who is close to the former minister dismissed the allegation, saying that “he had pneumonia. And you know the symptoms are similar to that of COVID-19. That was why people misconstrued it. He left the facility last Tuesday.”

“Meanwhile, my sources repeatedly maintain that the he had pneumonia, not Covid-19. Both have similar symptoms. Infact, he was tested twice. The rumours are because he was treated in isolation, not the regular private suite,” said another source who is also close to the former minister.

This is just as the board chairman of UCH, Alhaji Ibrahim Ado Shettima, who tested positive to the pandemic, has tested negative.

“UCH Chairman has tested negative now. He is awaiting his second test for him to be clinically certified healthy and discharged to go home,” a top source hinted.

Together with the two announced last night, the state is with 13 cases.

OYOINSIGHT.COM understands that 7 people, including Governor Seyi Makinde, the chief medical director of the University College Hospital, UCH, Professor Jesse Otegbayo and the duo of provost and deputy provost of the University of Ibadan College of Medicine, Professors Emiola Oluwabunmi Olapade-Olaopa Obafunke Denloye respectively, had recovered from the virus.
