The government of Oyo State has announced that it will commence School-on-air video and radio broadcast, for Secondary School students in the state.

The plan of the government to commence the program as part of its education in the emergency plan was announced by the commissioner for education, science, and technology, Barr. Olasunkanmi Olaleye.

In view of the prevailing situation of COVID-19, His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde has made an alternative structure forlearning at home for all students, particularly SSS3 students who areon the verge of sitting for the WAEC and NECO,” the commissioner said.

He stressed further that students will be able to take advantage ofthe e-library via the ministry of education website, www.oysgedu.ng, to access learning materials and videos preparedby competent and experienced teachers.

He then urged all stakeholders teachers, parents, guardians, andstudents to assist the students at this critical time to takeadvantage of the Ministry of education e-library, self-assessment questions, e-school and also watch BCOS Television and Radiodaily for the educational broadcast.

OYOINSIGHT.COM had earlier reported how the governor of the State, Engr. Seyi Makinde ordered the closure of all schools in the State till after Easter break when the decision will be reviewed to prevent the spread of coronavirus a pandemic that has killed thousands globally.

The decision to launch the Education in Emergency is in a bid to provide students an alternative way of learning.

At the time of writing this report, the total number of confirmedcases in the country is 97 with one death.

The index case in Oyo state is now seven making it the state withthe third-highest number of confirmed cases in the country afterLagos and Abuja.
