The six institutions that had representatives in the meeting were The Polythecnic Ibadan, Ibadan; The Oke Ogun Polythecnic, Saki; The Ibarapa Polythecnic, Eruwa; Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora; Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo and The College of Education, Lanlate.

“The body noted her many overtures in the last one year to the present administration in the state to make  the government address myriads of inherited and new issues bedeviling the institutions.

“Despite interactions with His Excellency, Engr. ‘Seyi Makinde and the honorable commissioner for education at different times, these concerted efforts so far have elicited neither the desired responses of penning any agreement between the government and JAC on any of the issues nor the implementation of any concrete decisions by the government to address these issues.

“A situation that is now having serious effects on the system and the entire workforce of the institutions,” the communique read.

After delibrating on various issues at the meeting the committee charged the state government to “expedite actions on the constitution and inauguration of governing councils for each institution with immediate effect, all outstanding promotion related matters should be promptly laid to rest finally, provide all the enabling environment such as funds, equipments and facilities and personnel for immediate and successful accreditation of all affected courses and Institutions.”

They also noted that “all issues relating to the commencement of the implementation of the consequential effect of the new minimum wage for Tertiary institutions workers should be promptly resolved such that the June 2020 salary will be reflective of this.”

The chairman added,”the industrial harmony being enjoyed in the sector since the advent of this administration and the administration’s reputation as humane and worker’s friendly are cherished, hence, we do not wish that such will be usurped by any form of unnecessary foot dragging, as JAC may not be able to guarantee sustained industrial peace in the tertiary institutions sector, if these salient issues are not appropriately addressed within the next two weeks.”
