The All Progressive Congress (APC) in Oyo State has petitioned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over what it described as anomalies that led to the defeat of the Governor Abiola Ajimobi in the Oyo South Senatorial District election.

The petition, supported by a police report was delivered by the Oyo State APC Director of Research and Strategy, Dr Azeez Olatunde at about 12.30pm on Monday.

Some sources said the party tried to submit the document on Sunday but it was not collected.

Olatunde maintained that his party did not lose the election but was robbed of victory. He alleged that political thugs unleashed terror on party supporters in some parts of the state, leading to the death of a young boy.

Fews hours ago, Dr Kola Balogun of the PDP was declared winner by the returning officer, Professor Wole Akinsola after polling 105,720 votes while Ajimobi (APC), scored 92,218 votes. Incumbent Senator Adesoji Akanbi and Dr Fola Akinosun (ADP), polled 49,437 and 13,149 respectively.
