The Deputy National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Abiola Ajimoi is not qualified to serve as the Acting National Chairman of the party, Mr. Akinleye Micheal, an aspirant to the post of the party’s Deputy National Chairman has said.

Micheal stated this in a letter to the National Working Committee of the APC on Wednesday signed by Barrister Babatunde Oke for his legal representatives, Octadas Attorneys.

According to the letter, since Abiola Ajimobi was yet to be recognized as the Deputy National Chairman of the party when Akinleye Micheal filed a suit against his nomination, Ajimobi is ‘legitimately’ not the party’s Deputy National Chair.

He stressed that on the 23rd of March, after informing the court about the purported announcement of Senator Abiola Ajimobi as the Deputy National Chairman (South), Chief Anthony Adeniyi, Ajimobi’s lawyer, “vehemently denied the said appointment of his client” adding that the Court also warned that all parties should desist from changing the status quo as at the time the suit was instituted.

He wrote further that “since Ajimobi is not the recognised substantive Deputy National Chairman (South) as confirmed by his counsel during the court proceedings of 23rd May. 2020 and he is not qualified to assume the position of the Acting National Chairman of APC”.

He then urged the National Working Committtee of the party to take note of the suit stated and stop committing contempt of court by continuing to recognize Ajimobi anything other than an ” ordinary member of the party”.

He also advised everyone to allow the wise counsel prevail in this matter in the overall interest of all.
