Oyo state working committee of Accord under the leadership of chairman, Prince Kolade Ojo and the secretary, Hon. Olayinka Dairo, have applauded Governor ‘Seyi Makinde for the unprecedented quick steps towards conducting local government election in the pace setter state.
A statement in Ibadan by Dairo described the initiative as uncommon remarkable feat by Makinde to deepen democracy, inclusive governance and ensure that dividends of democracy extend evenly to all nooks and crannies of the state, especially the grassroots.
According to him, Makinde has shown exemplary respect for the rule of law, displayed his true democratic credentials and unwavering resolve to bring all round development to all spheres of life in the state.
“In a clear demonstration of setting the pace for good governance, Governor Seyi Makinde is reshaping the local government administration for adequate delivery of social amenities, welfare and development,”Dairo noted.
The Accord state scribe, who expressed confidence in the process of conducting the forthcoming April 2024 local government election, hinted that his party will participate in the poll, as the governor is providing a level-playing ground for all political parties through the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission, OYSIEC.
Speaking further in an exclusive interview on BOSENLO, a political programme on Lagelu 96.7 FM, Ibadan, Dairo emphasized that Makinde is selecting capable hands into his cabinet to usher in more development projects, infrastructure and adequate welfare as well as security of lives and property under Omituntun 2.0.
On Accord alliance with Makinde during the last general elections, Dairo explained that the merger was necessitated by lack of respect and recognition for party supremacy and unilateral decisions by its governorship candidate, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, adding that the alliance was a collective resolve of party stakeholders, including the 33 local government party chairmen.
He maintained that the governor is known to be a dependable ally and faithful promise keeper, who has reiterated his stance to reward and compensate Accord loyalists with befitting appointments into his cabinet for their immense contributions towards the birth of Omituntun 2.0.
“I am convinced beyond reasonable doubt that Governor Makinde’s words are his bonds; he has reassured supporters at different fora that all electioneering pacts with political associates shall be fulfilled with commensurate appointments in his government”, he confirmed.
While appreciating the unflinching support of Accord national secretary, Dr Adebukola Abiola Ajaja, party stalwarts, including candidates and party leaders across the state, Dairo appealed to members to remain united with undivided loyalty and assured them that the dividends of good governance would go round.
