I know this for sure that there’s no God’s likeness on earth, it’s people’s likeness that abounds. But God creates some special people and He doesn’t create their likeness again. This is the story of the ever graceful, in life and in death, of Senator Abiola Ajimobi. For me, it’s needless and fruitless to search for who Archipelago’s cap fits. His cap doesn’t have to fit anybody; everybody must have own way of positioning cap on their head. But it’s not the positioning of the cap that matters here, it’s that the head must carry enough brain, smartness and wisdom. The cap on the head is just symbolic.
Oyo APC needs a leader to give her direction, a leader that will be a rallying point not a sectional or factional party leader. As we speak, such leader is elusive now, this does not mean there are no personalities in the party who can take up the mantle of leadership and restore the party to a progressive, thriving and cohere path. We had Chief Bola Ige. We had Baba Lam-Adesina. We had Senator Abiola Ajimobi. They all made magnificent marks in the progressive enclaves. Lam-Adesina was not Bola Ige in steering the ship of the defunct ACN before it metamorphosed to APC, he was himself. Abiola Ajimobi did not pretend to be like Lam-Adesina, he had a mind of his own and he did his best bits in governance and party politics. Who we need now in APC is somebody who will be himself, with a mind of his own, who will emulate Bola Ige’s, Lam-Adesina’s and Abiola Ajimobi’s excellent examples within the limits of his capacity, who will learn from their mistakes as fallible beings and who will work in good faith to correct their mistakes.
May Allah overlook Lam-Adesina’s and Abiola Ajimobi’s shortcomings and reward them with most blissful part of paradise.
