Ahead of the inauguration of the Ninth National Assembly, a group, Equity Support Team (EST), has called on the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, and other stakeholders of the party to consider Segun Odebunmi for House of Representatives’ speaker.

According to the group’s spokesman, Inuolaji Bamigboye, Odebunmi, who is a third-term federal lawmaker, has the political dexterity, administrative acumen and inter-personal skills to lead the House of Representatives.

While commending the efforts of Tinubu in ensuring victory for the party across the country, the group urged the top echelon of the APC to give equal opportunity to the contenders of the position of the speaker and other principal offices of the House of Representatives.

Addressing a stakeholders’ meeting in Ibadan, at the weekend, Bamigboye expressed confidence in the capacity of Odebunmi to drive the affairs of the green chamber, adding that the legislator will complement the efforts of President Muhammadu Buhari, in building a prosperous nation.

He said: “As we await the inauguration of the 9th National Assembly, we call on President Buhari, Asiwaju Tinubu, APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, and other key stakeholders of the party to give opportunity to a grassroots politician, a philanthropist and a consummate politician in the person of Odebunmi, to lead the House of Representatives.

“Odebunmi has the wealth of experience to build a good working relationship among all tiers of government for the sake of national development. He is well-known and respected among his colleagues. His goodwill is robust.

“Having been a local government chairman, commissioner and now a member of the House of Representatives, Odebunmi is qualified for the position of speaker. We are confident that the federal lawmaker will not disappoint the party and Nigerians in general.”

While drumming support for the candidature of Odebunmi, the group urged the South West members of the green chamber to reach out to their colleagues in other zones to achieve Odebunmi’s aspiration.
