Barely a month after losing her husband, Oyo Princess and veteran Yoruba actress, Alhaja Motunrayo Adeoye, is dead.

She died in the early morning of today at age 71 at the family’s Alaafia Estate, Akobo, Ibadan home.

The ex-TV presenter, who worked with Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State, BCOS, was a force to reckon with in the Yoruba movie industry. 

 

She was a niece to Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, the Alafin of Oyo town, Oyo State.

 

Looking at her face, she wore the same tribal marks just like the monarch.

She later jetted to Switzerland for a 7 months course to acquire more knowledge about the profession in 1979. Education for her started at Ansarudeen Primary School, Agunpopo, Oyo Town, from there to Anglican Secondary School in the same town before her higher education.

 

Madam Adeoye, who starred in Kunle Afod’s hit movie, “Igbekun”, was born into the royal family of Alaafin of Oyo, who is her father’s kid brother.

 

The deceased, was once a teacher, spent most of her life in the town until after she got admission to study Electronics at the Technical College, Osogbo, Osun State.

 

Shortly after that, she came to Lagos and she spent 7 years before she returned to Ibadan when she got a job at BCOS as a studio/audio manager.
