Adedigba Memorial Mosque Will Promote Worship, Community Development – PHMCM BOT Chair

The Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Premier Hotel Muslim Community Mosque and Welfare Foundation (PHMCM & WF), Dr Sulleiman Adediran, has described the newly commissioned Alhaji Jimoh Atilola Adedigba Memorial Mosque in Ibadan as a centre for worship, Qur’anic learning, community unity and youth development.

Adediran made this known on Sunday at the official commissioning of the mosque at Premier Hillside, Mokola, Ibadan, where the Acting Governor of Oyo State, Barr. Adebayo Lawal, led other top government officials, Islamic scholars, community leaders and members of the Adedigba family to the ceremony.

Adediran said the mosque, built in memory of the late Alhaji Jimoh Atilola Adedigba, was more than a physical structure, describing it as a monument of faith and a lasting legacy that would serve present and future generations.

He expressed appreciation to the Adedigba family for sponsoring the construction of the mosque, saying the project represented a lasting charity in honour of their late patriarch, and prayed for Allah’s reward for the family and the repose of the deceased.

The BOT chairman also commended Governor Seyi Makinde for approving and allocating the land for the mosque free of charge after the old mosque within the Premier Hotel premises was demolished on April 16, 2025, as part of the hotel’s facelift and expansion.

He said the intervention of the Oyo State Government enabled the Muslim community to retain its place of worship, while acknowledging Chief Mustafa Bayo Oyero and Prof. Rasheed Aderinoye for their roles in facilitating the support of the Adedigba family for the project.

According to him, the mosque would provide a platform for strengthening families, promoting Islamic values and fostering unity within the Muslim community, in addition to serving as a place of prayer and Qur’anic learning.

Accepting the mosque on behalf of the Incorporated Trustees and the Premier Hotel Muslim Community, Adediran described it as an amanah, or trust, which the community must preserve and use responsibly.

He pledged that the community would maintain the mosque and fill it with worship, knowledge and service, while ensuring that its programmes benefit Muslims and contribute to the development of the wider community.

Adediran therefore urged members of the community to regularly use and support the mosque, promote brotherhood and ensure that it remains a centre of guidance and peace for generations to come.

Also present were the Secretary to the Oyo State Government, Prof. Musibau Adetunji Babatunde; Commissioner for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Mr William Akin-Funmilayo; Commissioner for Trade, Industry, Investment and Co-operatives, Prof. Solihu Abdulwaheed Adelabu; former SSG, Prof. Rasheed Aderinoye; Chairman, Oyo State Civil Service Commission, Aderibigbe; Chairman, Oyo State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Sheikh Atere, among others.

The mosque, situated on approximately 4,298.768 square metres of land along the Premier Hotel–Cultural Centre Road, beside Oba Akinbiyi High School 1, Mokola, was commissioned amid prayers for the late Adedigba, his family, the community and the state.
