A governorship aspirant under the platform of ACCORD in Oyo State, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat has been warned to desist from politics with bitterness, violence and disrespect to the party hierarchy.
The warning followed disruption of a well organised screening exercise by the party for House of Assembly aspirants by political thugs sponsored by Hamzat.
This is contained in a statement jointly signed yesterday (Thursday) by the Oyo State Chairman of ACCORD, Prince Kolade Ojo and the State Secretary, Hon. Olayinka Dairo in Ibadan.
They cautioned the governorship aspirant against dictating to the party executives, lack of respect for the state working committee and usurpation of power and functions of the party.
“No aspirant is superior to the party; party supremacy must be respected because our party is known for discipline, internal democracy and orderliness”, they emphasized.
The ACCORD leadership described the violence against female staffers of the Grand Serene Hotel, Ibadan, which provided space for the event and destruction of items at the facility as barbaric, despicable and unpleasant to be heard of.
“We expect some level of decency, civility and responsible conduct from a person seeking to lead but these are lacking”, the statement read.
The ACCORD state Chairman and the Secretary, also frowned at the intrusion of privacy of Hotel guests and stealing of their valuables.
They vowed to explore appropriate legal procedures to bring perpetrators to book and ensure justice for the oppressed.
Recounting his ordeal in the hands of the hoodlums, Hon. Dairo narrated that an aspirant for Oyo State House of Assembly from Ibadan North Constituency II, known as Olacash was threatening to kill him after they vandalized properties in the Hotel.
