2027: Adelabu Forum Reaffirms Support To Deliver Tinubu, Alli, Akintunde, Skimeh, Others In Oyo

The Adelabu Progressives Forum in Oyo Federal Constituencies has reaffirmed its commitment to the All Progressives Congress, APC, pledging to mobilise support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the party’s Oyo State governorship candidate, Sen. Sharafadeen Alli, Sen. Yunus Akintunde and the Oyo Federal Constituency representative, Rt. Hon. Prince Akeem Adeniyi Adeyemi Skimeh, ahead of the 2027 elections.

The group made the commitment on Friday at a meeting with Skimeh, where members declared their total support for the APC and its candidates across the state.

The forum also pledged to work for the victory of other APC candidates, including Hon. Ijadunola in Atiba, Hon. Ayobami Ajeigbe in Oyo East/Oyo West and Hon. Oyewole Ojo in Afijio Local Government Area.

The meeting, chaired by the forum’s chairman, Hon. Oyelayo Sunday, had in attendance stakeholders, leaders and members from Afijio, Oyo East, Oyo West and Atiba local government areas, as well as former political office holders, councillors and other members of the movement.

Speaking at the meeting, members insisted that their political position was clear, saying they remained firmly in the APC and were prepared to work for the success of its candidates in 2027.

OYO INSIGHT gathered that the forum was originally formed as a support group for former Oyo State governorship aspirant, Adebayo Adelabu.

Some members recalled that they left the APC for the Accord Party in 2023 after Adelabu lost the party’s governorship ticket, but returned to the APC when he later rejoined the party.

They, however, expressed concern over reports that some individuals previously associated with the Adelabu movement had moved to the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, even as Adelabu remains in the APC.

“This time around, we are hearing that Adelabu is still in APC, but some of his followers that we knew have gone to APM. They are not straightforward,” members said.

The forum said it remained committed to the APC, adding that leaders across the four local government areas had resolved to pitch their tent with the party and its candidates.

The development comes amid political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections, particularly following the emergence of Alli as the APC governorship candidate in Oyo State.

Despite its origins as an Adelabu support group, the forum maintained that its allegiance to the APC was clear and that it would mobilise support for all candidates.
