Zamfara Gov, Emir Of Sarkin Katsinan Gusau Laud President Buhari On FCE Gusau Visitation Panel

the chairman of the presidential visitation panel to the Federal College of Education, Technical, Gusau in Zamfara State, Professor Taoheed Adedoja has described Nigeria’s traditional rulers as important stakeholders in the development of education in Nigeria.

Adedoja, an All Progressives Congress, APC, chieftain in Oyo state, made this remark on Wednesday at the palace of the Emir of Sarkin Katsinan Gusau, His Royal Highness Alhaji Ibrahim Bello when he led a team of visitation panel members constituted by President Muhammadu Buhari to the FCE Tecnical, Gusau , Zamfara state.

According to Adedoja,, FCE Gusau is the only such institution in Africa specifically for the training of women technical teachers, established 32 years ago by the federal government with a vision to encourage women to take up technical and vocational subjects for the Nigeria Certificate in Education, NCE.

The former Provost of the Federal College of Eduction Special, Oyo, stated that the college has graduated over five thousand women NCE graduates since its establishment with a current female-only student enrollment of over 7000.

The former minister of sports and special duties appealed to the monarch to continue to give the necessary support for the development of the college.

Responding, the Emir appreciated the composition of the panel by the president, promising to mobilize additional support by all the 17 Emirate councils in the State.

The monarch further advised that the doors of the palace is alway open for the management of the college for the required synergy between the traditional and educational institutions.

The team later paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Governor of Zamfara State Dr. Bello Muhammad Matawalle where Adedoja further commended the vision for the establishment of such an institution in Zamfara State, requiring special attention of the state government.

Matawalle expressed happiness on the composition of the presidential panel headed by Adedoja whom he described as experienced and visionary capable individuals. He said he looked forward to the recommendations of the panel on how best to jointly reposition the Federal College of Education, Technical Gusau.

Prior to the courtesy visits, the panel had interacted with the management of the institution, the academic board, the workers unions, the students body, the alumni association as well as local government officials on the terms of reference of the panel which includes examination of the structure of governance, due diligence, academic development, staff and students welfare fiscal and financial accountability, college-community relationship, disciplinary matters, among the nine terms of reference of the panel covering the last ten years and other matters that will assist President Muhammadu Buhari to move the institution forward in view of Mr President’s determination to revamp the education sector.

Members of management of the College headed by the acting Provost, Dr Umar Bello accompanied members of the visitation panel to the courtesy visits.

Members of the visitation panel were drawn from the academia, the legal and accounting profession, the political class and the private sector.
