A former Senator representing Oyo central senatorial district, Senator Monaurat Sunmonu has offered her deepest condolence to the family of the immediate past governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi.

Sunmonu, a former Speaker of Oyo State House of Assembly, stated this in a statement made available to newsmen on Friday.

She stated that the death of Ajimobi, who she worked closely with as a Speaker of the house, means Oyo State has lost a statesman.

Her statement reads, “It was with a heavy heart and great sadness that I heard the news of the passing of His Excellency, Sen. Abiola Ajimobi, former Governor of Oyo State.

“We worked closely during his first term as Governor and were able to record landmark achievements. As a result of which the name Ajimobi is forever etched in Oyo state history.

“As I write, I can hear Gov. Ajimobi saying “Madam Speaker, o ti tun de. Se awon House sha wa okay? Joor mi o fe wahala House o.”

“During his life, Gov. Ajimobi had the opportunity to enter the Ka’bah in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. May Allah who afforded him that grace use the same favour to forgive all his shortcomings and accept Gov. Ajimobi into Al-Jannah Firdaous. May He also provide the Ajimobi family- to whom I offer my deepest condolences- the fortitude to bear this loss.”

“Oyo State has indeed lost a statesman,” she added.
