Oyo Alaafin Sports Legends To Hold Tribute For Late Falcao October 14

The Oyo Alaafin Sports Legends will hold a commendation and honour service on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, to celebrate the life and contributions of late Commander Adebowale Fakayode, popularly known as Falcao.

The event will take place at the Durbar Stadium Complex, Oyo, from 4:00pm, according to a release issued by Dr Ademola Adeleke, a UK-based dental surgeon and Oyo soccer legend, on behalf of the group and made available to OYOINSIGHT.COM.

Fakayode was remembered for his contributions to football in Oyo, where he played as a defender for Works Rangers Oyo, Water Corporation FC of Oyo, also known as Erelu Babes, and NEPA Oyo.

His performances earned him recognition for his discipline, tactical awareness and defensive strength, making him one of the respected defenders of his era.

After retiring from active football, Fakayode moved into education, where he served as a teacher and mentor, helping to shape the lives of young people through discipline, integrity and compassion.

He later built a career in security, rising to become Commander of the Amotekun Security Outfit in Oyo Zone. He was described as a leader known for honesty, accountability and knowledge of the state’s security terrain.

The programme will feature tributes, reflections and a novelty match involving the Oyo Alaafin Advanced Ambassadors, with participants expected to celebrate Fakayode’s contributions to sports, education and security.

Adeleke described the event as an opportunity for the people of Oyo to recognise a man whose life, according to the organisers, reflected courage, service and commitment to the peace and progress of his community.

The Oyo Alaafin Sports Legends have invited members of the public to attend the event and join in honouring the late sportsman and security officer.
