The Director-General of the Kolapo Kola-Daisi campaign organization, Mr. Sunday Babalola has implored the electorate in Oyo State to make a befitting decision not to vote candidates he described as strangers.

He made this known while addressing a cross section of Yoruba, Arewa and Middle-belt community members across the 5 local governments in Ibadan on Wednesday.

Babalola noted that the reason dividends and benefits of governance are rarely seen is because the electorate vot politicians and public office holders they do not really know.

“For the most part in our democracy, our pattern of voting has been purely transactional. Politicians we seldom know or know anything about their background and antecedents come to us to merely ask for our votes, speak some fleeting words we love to hear just to get those votes, we give it to them and they disappear. That has been the story in most part.”

He continued, “We vote for people who become strangers because that is who they were in the first place. But I think we have solid chance to correct this unfavourable trend this time around”.

“The calibre of candidates we have put up in the Accord in Oyo State have solid, traceable pedigrees and are of a sound heritage. From Adelabu vying to be Governor to Faozey in Oyo central, Peller in Oyo North, Arisekola in Ibadan North and to this candidate in Oyo South, Idris Kolapo Kola-Daisi, just to name a few, Accord has presented an array of candidates who are not only brilliant, young and capable, but candidates who we also truly know”

“Look at Mr. Kolapo Kola-Daisi as an example, we know his history, we know his antecedents, we know his source…it is such that these things are key, in Yoruba, we say ‘abere o l’okun ndi’. For candidates like these, it is easy to strike a real relationship with them as against a transactional and temporary vote-seeking affair”

Babalola stressed that a real relationship with candidates like Kolapo Kola-Daisi will make it easy for the electorates to have a connection with elected officials, simply because they’ll be within reach to know and understand their actual issues, close enough to solve them.

“This is how we can get benefits of governance. Don’t vote for strangers!”, he concluded.
