Hon. Peter Odetomi, who was running mate to Governor Abiola Ajimobi in the 2007 governorship election under the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP, is the African Democratic Congress, ADC, candidate for Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South, Oriire federal constituency in the 2019 election.
The ex-chairman of Ogbomoso South local government and former commissioner for local government and chieftaincy matters under Ajimobi would compete with Hon. Segun Ogunwuyi of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Olagunju Ojo of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and Captain Ajao of the Action Democratic Party, ADP.
The quartet of Odetomi, Ogunwuyi, Ojo and Ajao, political observers told OYO INSIGHT, would make the contest keen and explosive.
The duo of Ojo and Ogunwuyi were former governor Adebayo Alao-Ajala’s loyalists. Ogunwuyi, who is eyeing a second term, was a member of the Oyo State House of Assembly between 2011 and 2015. He fell out with his former boss not long ago. Though he still calls Alao-Akala his boss, Sixty-eight year Ojo, who is completing his second term in the Oyo Assembly failed to defect to the ADP with him as he had already been handed the Reps ticket. He was made speaker to keep Alao-Akala in the APC.
Odetomi fell out with Ajimobi in the build-up to the 2015 election.
