Emeritus professor, Oladipo Akinkugbe made history over the weekend when he became the first Nigerian medical doctor ever to officially hang his stethoscope.
The week long event which ended with a lecture organized by the University College Hospital, UCH, Ibadan and chaired by former president Olusegun Obasanjo, saw eminent Nigerians saluting the 85 years old professor.
The stethoscope has since been archived at the Museum of the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan.
The lecture titled ‘Africa’s Health: Matters Arising’ was delivered by 88 years old Sir Professor Eldryd Parry of the Department of Infectious and Tropical Diseases, London School of Hygienes and Tropical Medicine.
