The Youth leader of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Oyo State, Asiwaju Adekola Adeoye, has disclosed that the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde became the governor of the state in a bid to improve the life of workers.
Adeoye, who disclosed this in a statement to celebrate workers day made available to OYOINSIGHT.COM, also described the governor as a game-changer with the passion to put a smile on workers’ faces.
He wrote: “For some years in the past, workers in Oyo State have had bad experiences in the hands of the past government of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“It is recalled that non-payment/delay in the payment of the workers’ salary was the order of the day in the state. Different kinds of workers like teachers; local government staff; workers at state ministries, agencies, departments, and commissions; staff of the state’s higher institutions, among other others, have gone through excruciating moments.
“Now, here comes the game changer and man with a passion to put smiles on the workers’ faces, Engineer Seyi Makinde, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, who was sent down to achieve success in improving the lives of the workers, students, farmers, the market men and women, the rich, the poor, among others.
“Exactly a year ago, our GSM was just a governor-elect having stupendously defeated Adebayo Adelabu Penkelemesi and the APC at the 2019 governorship election in the state This year’s celebration of the Workers’ Day is very significant because it is the first that our leader, GSM, will celebrate as the executive governor.”
He stressed further that workers in the state would have had no reason to celebrate the international day of the workers “If it were to be business as usual when the workers were suffering but smiling”.
“Each year on May 1, people across the globe take to the streets and government settings to commemorate International Workers’ Day or May Day.
“Therefore, as the youth leader of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, I join the entire workers in the state on this year’s Workers’ Day to rejoice for having GSM as the leader of the pacesetter state and also for his love for all and sundry. The youths of our party and even non-partisan youths in the state have showered encomiums on our dealing governor.
“If it were to be business as usual when the workers were suffering but smiling, there wouldn’t have been any reason to celebrate the international day of the workers. It would have just been a journey of the vicious circle of no progress, whatsoever,” he added.
He also reminded workers in the state that the only thing required them is maximum cooperation in their dedication to work and prayers for God to empower the state more financially so that the governor can do more to transform the state.
