Former Rivers governor and transportation minister, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, has revealed what he was told when he asked why the people of Oyo State did not vote for the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate, Oloye Adebayo Adelabu, in the March 9, 2019 election.
Amaechi spoke in Ibadan, the state capital, on Monday during the exchange of letters for the Ibadan Inland Dryport between the state government and the federal ministry of transportation/Nigerian Shippers Council.
Congratulating Ajimobi for ‘finishing very strongly’, Amaechi said “I have spoken to people about the Governor, and they concede he focused on infrastructure.”
Nigerian Tribune quoted Amaechi as saying that “When I asked why they didn’t vote for APC, they told me that after giving him a rare second term in office, they won’t allow him to impose somebody on them.”
Amaechi added that “You are concluding your second term administration with a very strong note of performance and unequal pacesetting. Not all governors finished this way.
“Most of your detractors even acknowledged the fact that you have done so much in infrastructural facilities and other areas where you have touched lives.
“History will judge you well. For me, I don’t think of what people talk about me. I only care about how I do what I do. You have journeyed well and I congratulate you and your family for your success.
