The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is not bothered by last Sunday’s visit of the governors of the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, to Rashidi Ladoja, former governor of Oyo State.
OYOINSIGHT.COM had reported the visit of Mai Buni, Atiku Bagudu, Abubakar Badaru, governors of Yobe, Kebbi and Jigawa respectively to Ibadan, the state capital. They were accompanied by former speaker of the house of representatives, Dimeji Bankole.
Though details of the meeting were not disclosed after the meeting, OYOINSIGHT.COM can report that it was not unconnected to plan to bring him to the APC ahead of the 2023 election, especially as the party is in the opposition in the state.
Akeem Olatunji, spokesperson of the ruling PDP, who reacted in a chat with The Nation, said the governors’ visit to Ladoja was not a source of worry.
“Chief Ladoja is an elder statesman. Any political party or individual can visit him. Our national chairman, Uche Secondus, or APGA can visit him tomorrow. He is expected to be open to everybody as an elder statesman, irrespective of party affiliation since he is no longer carrying the card of any political party.
“Governor , Makinde is performing excellently and Chief Ladoja is happy with that. So, we have no reason to be disturbed about the visit.”
