Political stakeholders in the three local government councils in Ibarapa zone of Oyo state have expressed their firm belief and confidence in the ability of the acting chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Alhaji Olayide Abas, to turn things around and reposition the party to regain its pride of place ahead future elections.
The stakeholders operating under the auspices of Ibarapa Zone APC Initiative who visited Abas in Oke-Ado, Ibadan Secretariat of the party on Tuesday were led their coordinator, Engineer Azeez Adeoye, stated that their solidarity visit was informed by the directive from some of eminent progressive leaders from the zone such as; Pa T. A Jolaoso, Chief T. A Adenrele, Francis Babalola, Elder Dayo Adeola and Alh. Kasumu Jinadu.
Adeoye, who is the Executive Director, Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority and former Commissioner for Water Resources in the state described Abas as a tested and trusted kinsman with an enviable track record of honesty, sincerity and discipline. “The entire world knows our new acting chairman is on a rescue mission since he came in at a time that Oyo needed a quick fix on account of the crisis which engulfed the party in the build up to the last general election.
“Meanwhile, we have no iota of doubt in our mind concerning your ability as an Awoist and an experienced administrator to deliver the good as many people from within and outside the state expect so much from you while time is of the essence as we all know that the next general election is around the corner. Within the short period of time that you came on board, we have seen flashes of the promise which you hold and we use this opportunity to assure you of our unalloyed support and cooperation.” Adeoye said.
In his response, the Oyo APC boss thanked members of the delegation for the visit which he described as a morale booster. “Your being here today has a lot of benefits for the party, Ibarapa and my humble self. You have not only come to tell the whole world that Ibarapa is APC but you have also used this medium to boost my morale as I feel a stronger urge to work tirelessly in the overall interest of our great Party and its teeming members. So far, we have been able to meet virtually all the gladiators and other relevant stakeholders and I am upbeat about achieving the collective desire of a stronger, more formidable and better Oyo APC soonest.” Abas assured.
