At last, peace seems to have returned to the Oyo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, with the harmonisation of the executive committee members of the party.
Wasii Emiola of former governor Rashidi Ladoja’s faction has been replaced with Wasiu Adeleke of Seyi Makinde’s faction as state secretary of the party.
Omokunmi Mustapha, who was elected chairman at Ladoja’s faction congress and others retained their positions.
Sources confided in insight Oyo that the party, after many months of strategic meetings with aggrieved stakeholders of the party. decided to concede some positions to Engr. Seyi Makinde faction.
Insight Oyo recalled how, last year, the party organised parallel congresses due to irreconcilable differences between factions loyal to Makinde and Ladoja.
For many months, there were accusations and counter accusations between the two factions.
Signs of peace emerged not long ago when Makinde, in many press statements, described Ladoja as the authentic leader of the party in the state. Only last week, before the Ibarapa East bye-election which was won by the party’s Adebo Ogundoyin, Ladoja chaired the annual Ramadhan Lecture organised by the billionaire oil magnate.
With the latest development, the quartet of Alagbe Taiwo (State Organising Secretary), Akeem Arinola (State Financial Secretary), Idowu Oyeleke (Assistant State Legal Adviser) and Ladoke Olayiwola (Auditor), all of Makinde’s faction, have been integrated into the Excos.
It was learnt that the decision was recommended by the electoral appeal panel of the party.
They are to be inaugurated on Monday, 11th June, 2018 at the NEC Hall of the party’s Wadata, Abuja secretariat.
