There was a disagreement between Oyo State deputy governor, Engr. Raufu Olaniyan and widow of late former governor Abiola Ajimobi, Mrs. Florence Ajimobi when the former paid a condolence visit to the family’s Oluyole residence, on behalf of his boss, Governor Seyi Makinde.
A mourning former first lady had accused Makinde and “even Mr. Deputy Governor” of not calling her while the husband was ill.
Below is the excerpt of the conversation.
Florence: When my husband was ill, I think the least anybody can do as a God-fearing person is to, at least send me a word of sincerity and even after he died not even he Mr. Deputy Governor…
Olaniyan: I called you, I called your phone number two days ago. People were…
Florence: (cuts in) You called me?
You should have sent me a text message. I don’t have your number so I can’t pickup. I am the wife of a politician, I don’t pick numbers I don’t know. Your Excellency, you can send a message sir. Everybody is going to die, my husband is dead and he served this state for eight years, eight good years.
