Unity Forum Leaders Return To APC In Okeogun — We Were Under A ‘Jackboot Dictator’ For 8 Years

Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress in Oke-Ogun axis of Oyo State under the auspices of the Progressive Legacy Leaders Forum have reiterated their resolve to work with all interested and committed individuals and groups to assist the APC rediscover its virility and popularity across the state in the wake of electoral misfortune it suffered in the last general elections.
In a Communique issued at a joint Unity Forum meeting held at the weekend at Iseyin, PLLF expressed their regret over the circumstances which led to the ouster of the APC from Agodi Government House on May 29, 2019 describing it as “a self-inflicted injury which required urgent treatment for it to heal up in no time.”
According to PLLF; “No political party could have done well in any major election after it had been put under the jackboot of a civilian dictator. Between 2011 and 2019, most genuine and dedicated ACN/APC members became victims of circumstance as they suffered untoward pains in the hands of a privileged minority. As a geographical entity, Oke-Ogun became the worst hit when its entire destiny was put in the hands of a female civil servant and the rest is now history.
“The hen has come home to roost and we are now determined to work with other zones and people of like minds to bring back the APC in Oyo State. We desire a strong, virile and flourishing Oyo APC which would be populated by patriotic citizens who are willing and ready to promote constitutional democracy, embrace party supremacy and respect the rights of other party faithful.
“We are mindful of the fact that genuine reconciliation is inevitable at this point in time to calm all frayed nerves and to this end, we are appealing to all those found to have been responsible for the crisis which engulfed Oyo APC, particularly in 2018, to desist from causing further damage in the name of foisting themselves on others after they had been rejected by the entire people of the state.
“As concerned and committed stakeholders, we strongly believe that now is the time for the national leadership of our great Party to walk the talk and urgently fashion out the modalities with which Oyo APC would be fully restructured at the Ward, Local and State levels. If the right is done at the right time, the party would immediately assume its rightful place of pride and everything would fall into place in readiness for future challenges.” PLLF stated.
Major stakeholders who signed the Communique include; Alhaji Isiaka Salam, Alh. Olalekan Kazeem, Dr. Hameed Ayinla, Hon. Adisa Olarinre, Chief Sunday Owoade, Alh. Ali Balogun, Chief Siyanbola John, Elder C. A Oke, Alh. Mufutau Adeleke and Hon. Waheed Aderoju.
