The alumni association of The Literary and Debating Society, University of Ibadan was, on Saturday, inaugurated by the Ayeni Otito Jesu-led administration.
A statement by the association’s President indicated that the creation of the alumni network was driven by the need to bridge the wide gap between the organization and its alumni network, bring everyone together, and create a bond that will foster a lasting relationship.
During the inauguration, which took place virtually, various individuals shared their experiences with the society, especially of the annual debate tournament, Jaw War.
They also commended the efforts of the current administration to bring together former members of the association for the first time in seven years.
While speakimg during the conference, Otito-Jesu noted that the administration was able to create a database of over 120 members, which will always be subject to changes.
He noted that preparation for the 2021 edition of the annual debate tournament, Jaw War, has begun and hinted that it will most likely be expanded to become a national championship.
The conference had in attendance notable individuals like award winning journalists, Mayowa Tijani and Kunle Adebajo; 2021 Rhodes Scholar, Elizabeth Nwarueze; Oyegunle Paul; David Adeoye and a host of others.
