UI Gate Locked As Workers Protest Against Planned Imposition Of Adebowale As Next VC

The University of Ibadan is currently on a total lockdown as workers have taken over the entire premises protesting against the ‘planned imposition of the current Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Kayode Adebowale as the next Vice-Chancellor.’

OYOINSIGHT.COM recalls that multiple individuals and unions in the institution have alleged that the current Vice-Chancellor, Professor Idowu Olayinka is ‘putting no stone untouched to ensure the emerged of his anointed candidate, Adebowale.’

The protest by the workers, OYOINSIGHT.COM understands, is not unconnected from the release of the name of the six candidates who made the shortlist out of those jostling for the seat. One of those who names announced was that of Prof. Adebowale.

In multiple videos sighted by this reporter, the workers who had blocked all entry and exit into the institution.

They were seen chanting various Aluta songs like ‘we no go gree oo, we no go gree, Imposition we no go gree.

They also held placards with instructions like, “Impose Adebowale and shut down UI for six years, ” “we shall never work with Alatise again among others”.
