In the release jointly signed by Mr. Tirimisiyu Atanda, Asst. Secretary IJTA, Alhaji Tajudeen Hammed, Ashipa Baale Onisowo of Ibadanland, Alhaja Muniratu Olawoyin, Osi Iyaloja of Ibadanland, Alhaji Isumaila Akande, Baba Isale of Joint Traders, and Alhaji Jeleel Adepoju, Jagunmolu Onisowo of lbadanland, the Ibadan Joint Traders Association, condemned and described the release aired on a private FM radio in Ibadan on Thursday where it was stated that Alhaji Dauda Oladepo, the President of IJTA has been removed as fake news.

“We the executives, members of the Ibadan Joint Traders Association and chiefs of Ibadanland wish to inform the public that Alhaji Dauda Oladepo remains the President of the Ibadan Joint Traders Association (IJTA) as against his purported removal by a group of some people who conspired to cause confusion within the association.

“The announcement made was a follow up to last week assassination attempt on the life of Alhaji Dauda Oladepo, the President of IJTA. In our meeting today, 18 out of 25 Exco members attended and pronounced vote of confidence in the leadership of Alhaji Dauda Oladepo, in the presence of 54 members who also attended the emergency meeting and pledged their support to Alhaji Dauda Oladepo.

“The person that claimed to be the secretary of IJTA who was among those that staged the voided coup against the unity of IJTA, committed impersonation, in view of the fact that he was never appointed to occupy position he assigned to himself. Where is the proof of authority of the person, if we may ask, who appointed him and where is his letter of appointment? Where was the meeting that led to Alhaji Oladepo’s removal held and how many Exco member attended.

“If truly Oladepo is corrupt, he should be charged in line with the association constitution as well as Nigerian Constitution. Those using the palace of our highly referred royal father should desist from the ignoble act. This is business issue and should be allowed to be handled by a competent court of jurisdiction,” the release stated.

Meanwhile, Alhaji Dauda Oladepo denied ever been involved in the act of disrespecting the Olubadan of Ibadanland. He said, ” all allegations levelled against me are baseless, for I never for once been involved in any act of disrespecting the throne of my ancestors. I’m an indigene of Ibadanland, and my regards for His Imperial Majesty, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, the Ajeogunguniso 1 and the Oloris as well as the Olubadan-in-Council knows no bounds.

“I have also explained this time without number that I never instituted any legal action against Olubadan. The documents on the case in court is readily available for our elders and leaders to peruse. This will help to expose the evil genius behind the crisis rocking traders associations in Oyo State.

“Let me also include that I have never been accused nor involved in financial malpractices by the association. Besides, I am not the Financial Secretary nor Treasurer of the association, hence I have nothing doing with finances of the association. Inaddition, there’s no decision made without the knowledge and approval of all members, we follow due process always in all our activities.

“Lastly, I didn’t singlehandedly norminate Alhaji Sumailia Aderemi Jimoh as Babaloja-General of Oyo State, but the Coalition of Groups of Traders in Oyo State did, of which I remain a bonafide member. Persecuting me for this is a mere waste of time and unnecessary. I thank our highly respected and regarded High Chief of Ibadanland, Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, for being objective and thorough in defending the throne of Olubadan as well as the rights of the voiceless in the society,” Alhaji Dauda Oladepo eulogised.
