Suspected PDP Hoodlums Deface Lam-Adesina’s Billboard

Vandals suspected to be sympathizers of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, have defaced a large billboard belonging to Adedapo Lam-Adesina, candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in next week’s house of representatives’ election in Ibadan North East/South East federal constituency.

The billboard, which has Bola Tinubu, presidential candidate of the APC and the young Lam-Adesina on it, which had been there for weeks, was found without the party’s logo last week.

Speaking to journalists about the development, the former commissioner said he was even busy with campaign when his attention was called to the development.

Lam-Adesina who represented the federal constituency between 2015 and 2019, said “I had thought we had passed the era of defacing opponents’ billboard and posters but I was proved wrong. Though I won’t be deterred but I am disappointed. I am not someone to take laws into my hands and I have advised my supporters against such.

“I am not desperate for anything. And that is why I have been campaigning day and night. Let’s engage in issue-based campaigns. I won’t shy away from such. Few days ago, we engaged ourselves in a debate organized by a popular radio station. We all embraced one another after that. That is where our constituency should be moving towards. We shouldn’t attack one another. We should not destroy things belonging to one another. We should behave like brothers and not like enemies.

“I have moved on about the defacing of my billboards and posters. I will not say I don’t know. These are perpetrated by hoodlums sponsored by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. On many occasions, we have caught them pasting their posters on ours. Rather than be angry, I instructed my supporters not to retaliate. I will just urge them to desist from such,” the University of Ibadan graduate added.
