Sunday Adepoju who is representing Ibarapa/Ido federal constituency of Oyo state in the National Assembly has defected from the African Democratic Congress to All Progressives Congress.
In a statement sent to LEGIT Adepoju’s defection followed on the heels of the return of Senator Adesoji Akanbi among others to APC after the initial disagreements which took them to other political platforms.
The lawmaker on Thursday, March 7, met with thousands of his supporters in Ido and Ibarapa local governments during which they pledged overwhelming support to ensure Adelabu’s governorship ambition is realised.
Legit.ng previously reported that Abiodun Olasupo said members of his unity forum in the Oyo state chapter of APC were forced to defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Olasupo, the chairman of the House of Representatives committee on legislative compliance, made this known at Iwere-Ile in Iwajowa local government area of the state town hall meetings with constituents.
Olasupo, alongside other members of the unity forum, a splinter group of the APC in the state, recently defected to ADC.
Recall that the leadership of the Action Democratic Party urged its governorship candidate, former Oyo state governor, Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala, not to rejoin the APC.
The ADP declared that as far as the party’s leadership was concerned, Alao-Akala remains its governorship candidate. ADP southwest chairman, Lateef Arowosaye, in a statement in Ibadan at the weekend, said the party was unaware of any pact with the APC.
