Newly re-elected members of the house of representatives from Oyo State, Akinremi Musiliu (Ibadan North) and Tolulope Akande Sadipe (Oluyole) were missing as the remaining 12 of their colleagues have endorsed Tajudeen Abbas and Ben Kalu as speakership and deputy speakership candidates respectively.
Against party’s directive that they should support the duo of Abbas and Kalu, OYOINSIGHT.COM understands that Akinremi and Sadipe, who have just been re-elected for a second term, want to be deputy speaker. While Akinremi is the campaign anchorperson for Sani Jaji, Sadipe is rooting for Aliyu Betara.
Both lawmakers are part of the 9 All Progressives Congress, APC reps in the state. The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has 5.
Vanguard, in some documents obtained from a session held by the lawmakers, observed that 12 reps out of 14 house of representatives’ members from the state appended their signatures supporting the duo’s positions as speakership and deputy speakership candidates.
Among those who endorsed the duo are reps members from both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and those of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
