Mrs Folake Akanbi, wife of Oyo South senator, Sen. Adesoji Akanbi, celebrated the festive season with women in her husband’s senatorial district.
She hosted women last Thursday, at the constituency office of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, senator in Ibadan.
Known to be highly supportive of her husband’s political ventures, it was an opportunity for her to seek their support as Akanbi goes into the 2019 polls, hoping to retain his seat.
“We should give thanks to God who has been with us all year round and saw us through the turbulence of the year 2018.
“My sincere gratitude goes to all our women for the support given to my husband, Senator Rilwan Adesoji Akanbi which has contributed to his laudable performance at the Red Chambers.
“As the general elections is gradually approaching, I seek the cooperation of all our women in mobilizing and canvassing women in the grassroots.
“Women are known to be trustworthy and firm in their support. In the remaining weeks, we need every support for outstanding victory in the elections,” she said.
Trust the ADC women to spice up the event with singing and dancing. she would not dampen their spirit. She seized the opportunity to express her humanitarian side.
She distributed food items, materials and cash, and urged the women to share them adequately among women in their various local governments and wards.
She also extended same to widows and the vulnerable. “There is great reward in sharing,” she says.
She was supported by her friends, the ADC State Woman leader, Mrs Funmi Arulogun and Senatorial woman leader, Alhaja Olabode.
All the women leaders and executives from the different local governments and wards were also in attendance.
