At Interdenominational Prayers, Skimeh Reels Out Achievements In 2023, Plans For 2024

Prince Akeem Adeyemi, lawmaker representing AFIJIO/Atiba/Oyo East/Oyo West federal constituency, started the new legislative year with interdenominational prayers at his countryhome in Boroboro area of Atiba local government.

At the event which took place yesterday, leaders of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Muslim Community, Traditional Religion Worshipers, Oyo Metropolitan Development Association as well as prominent political leaders drawn from Oyo Federal Constituency were in attendance.

Speaking at the event, Skimeh as the lawmaker is fondly called, said he deemed it fit to start the year with prayers in order to record more resounding success and to appease God for the grace of invaluable and remarkable feats recorded in 2023.

He prayed that the new year usher in enviable development that would surpass that of last year.

This was just as he disclosed that necessary developmental proposals had been captured in the year 2024 budget, assuring that when approved, all the critical developmental issues affecting Oyo would be addressed.

He promised that there would be improved electricity supply to all the nooks and corners of the constituency with the visit of power minister to Oyo to inspect Olukuewu Electricity Plant.

“Road construction In the constituency would be far reaching while provision of portable water would touch all the areas within the constituency. We will also provide tractor machine to ease farming activities and improve food security. Meaningful empowerment would be undertaken to improve the economic growth of the people. Employment of our teeming youths with prerequisite qualifications in the constituency would be provided,” he pledged.

In 2023, Skimeh revealed, “we were able to construct at different communities, bridges and roads. Sabo/Obada Owinni bridge, Kosobo-Awe road, Boroboro-School of Science road, Oriawo road as well Galilee-Ebu olose road, Awe among others.

“In the are of education, we constructed and equipped ICT centres in School of Science, Oyo, St. Francis Catholic College, Oyo, Ilora Community Grammar School while we also provided free NECO forms to selected students.

”Those who aren’t educated aren’t left behind. We have trained thousands on ICT and we also distributed laptops to more than 200 youth. Cash empowerment support have been  disbursed to close to 2000 people.

”I also like to inform you that we have secured employment for qualified constituents at the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN), Nigeria Bureau of Statistics (NBS), Federal Road Safety Commission, NIPOST, Federal College of Veterinary and Medical Laboratory Technology etc. among others,” he added.

The duo of Sheik Abdullateef Eleyele and Sheu Abduwaheed Larubawa, who spoke and prayed in Islamic way described the lawmaker as God’s chosen and as such, would excel in all his endeavors.

Rev. Deola Ojo who prayed extensively for God’s abiding grace on Skimeh, advised him to continue to be humble.

CAN chairman in Oyo town, Rev. Akin Alabi noted that Hon Skimeh inherited the baton of good deeds from his late father, Late Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi and emphasized that the vacuum had been adequately filled.

Followed suit in the prayer session was a traditional religion worshiper, Chief Adejare Ifadare (Agbongba Alaafin) who prayed fervently for Skimeh’s safety and God’s guidance to achieve all good plans being nursed for his constituency.

In his remarks, leader of the traditional worshipers, Chief Morakinyo Fatokun (Oba Edu) asked God to imbue Skimeh with unquenchable wisdom, knowledge and glory. He pleaded with the three-term lawmaker to remember Isale Oyo in everything he does.

To rap it up, Mr Atanda Adekunle, a member of Oyo Metropolitan Association asserted that the people of Oyo have never had it so good. He assured that all the well-meaning people of Oyo Federal Constituency are solidly behind him and prayed that he would not stumble.
