Barring any last minutes’ change of mind, Governor Seyi Makinde and Power Minister, Adébáyọ̀ Adelabu are expected to meet today, Monday 15th January, OYOINSIGHT.COM has learnt.

Though the agenda of the meeting is unknown, sources close to the two gladiators agreed that it cannot be unconnected with politics.

This newspaper learnt that the duo, who incidentally are from the same federal constituency, should have met shortly after Adelabu’s inauguration as minister but the governor was out of country.

While Makinde is in his second term, Adelabu who just returned to the All Progressives Congress, APC from Accord where he contested the last election, is seeking to takeover from incumbent in 2027.

In the 2019 and 2023 elections won by Makinde of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Adelabu came second and third respectively. He would be contesting for the third time in the next general election.

The meeting is coming just as unconfirmed report has it that Makinde is being prevailed upon to join the APC. The governor was said to have told those making the advances that they should, among other things, concede the guber and one senatorial tickets to him.

While many keen political watchers are saying Makinde has his eyes on the Oyo Central seat currently occupied by APC’s Yunus Akintunde, some said he may go back to his oil business and try his luck in real estate.

Tomorrow, Makinde would be chairing the launch of the Bisi Akande Foundation which is billed to hold at the University of Ibadan Conference Centre. Akande is believed to be the closest political associate of President Bola Tinubu.
