To augment the good work of their boss and senator representing Oyo central, Yunus Akintunde Ph.D, who turned 63 today, aides of the All Progressives Congress, APC, chieftain from Oyo federal constituency, OFC, have bought university admission forms for 20 students.
The aides which included special assistants and liaison officers, in a chat with newsmen, said the gesture was a token of appreciation for the yeoman work the lawmaker has been doing in the last 21 months.
Speaking on behalf of the aides, Olabode Lateef, who doubles as the lawmaker’s community relations coordinator for OFC, revealed “we just thought of what do do for our boss’ birthday this year and we settled for this— one, because he is a lover of education and youth empowerment and secondly to complement his efforts in that area.
”The beneficiaries were carefully selected from across the four local government areas of AFIJIO, Atiba, Oyo East and Oyo West. Added to this is the fact that we promised that any candidate who scores 250 and above and is able to secure admission, the senator will pay his or her first year school tuition fee.
”This is our own little way of joining hands with our boss in his determination to bring development to our senatorial district and also energize him to do more.
”We wish him a very hearty birthday celebration and we commend him for not resting on his oars since becoming a lawmaker,” Lateef added.
