Secondary School Students Laud NGO For Empowering Them With Digital Skills

    Secondary students in Sharon Rose College, Faith College and Christ Grammar School, Saki, Oyo State have praised the capacity building and empowerment not-for-profit organization, Reaching Minds Foundation

    The teenagers gave separate commendations while speaking to newsmen at the closing ceremony of the bootcamp.

    Leading the pack of the students is Olujinmi Elijah of Faith College who impressed greatly at the bootcamp with his grasp of software development.

    Elijah while highlighting how the unique ways of teaching assisted him in easy learning stated, “the process and uniqueness of teaching, especially by my trainer, Mr. Tomisin Isaac was what propelled me to learn more and make personal research in my quest to be a standard software developer”.

    Another student, Emeka Obugo who attends Sharon Rose College spoke on how the bootcamp exposed his eyes to the opportunities embedded in acquiring digital skills. He particularly appreciated the design tutors namely Adekunjo David, Akanmu Fathiu and Jerry Yemi for their creative approach to teaching.

    While a student of Christ Grammar School identified as Azeez Saidat emphasized on how despite the lack of ICT facilities in the government owned school, the Tekisite team still mobilized themselves to the school to train them. She said, “they brought computers and introduced us to digital skills, even in our local languages. They also collected our contacts so as to continue the learning process with us”. This view was echoed by another student named Tewogbola David, who appreciated the entire crew of Reaching Minds Foundation for the initiative of Tekisite.

    While responding to the remarks, the founder of the Foundation, Abass Oyeyemi was beaming with pride as he narrates the challenges they had to overcome, which were quickly washed away by the quick grasp of the digital skills by the students.

    The President of the Foundation, Salawu Faizah concluded by stating that, “the dedication by each one of our volunteers was the needed spark to have this bootcamp make the sort of impacts it’s currently making. We also appreciate the schools for being supportive. The success of this project has lifted our spirits well enough for us to carry the torch of impacts to another community”.
